Piece by Piece - A wood assemblage workshop

€20.00

It’s a rare opportunity to design and build your own wood wall sculpture, guided by artist and designer Maria Atanacković at her studio in Ardgillan Castle.

Before the workshop, you'll receive simple instructions to plan your own composition, choosing your shapes, arrangement, and colours. Maria then digitises and laser-cuts your individual set of pieces, turning your design into ready-to-assemble components.

On the day, you'll build and colour your piece under Maria's guidance. You’ll leave with a finished, wall-ready sculpture, plus a hands-on understanding of how digital fabrication (CAD design, laser cutting) supports and extends craft-based making. You’ll also see her studio and get a glimpse into the process of a working artist maker.

The workshop sits at the meeting point of art and design: you do the design thinking, composition, form, colou, and Maria shows how that thinking becomes a physical object through a design-led making process. Hosted at her studio in the historic Ardgillan Castle, it's a rare chance to see a working artist's fabrication process up close.

This special workshop is part of Irish Design Week 2026. The price is hugely discounted as it is supported by the Design and Crafts Council of Ireland (DCCI).
